The thought of writing these 24 studies for guitar came to me after participating to an online guitar forum whose subject was the right way to execute one of my composition, Ranuncoli Gialli, that I had written many years before.

At this occasion, many guitarists were discussing the matter of the sound to adopt, the right tempo, and also who I was. I want to dedicate this collection of pieces entitled American Friends to all those people I met on this forum. At last I would like to mention the Delcamp forum as a fantastic modern agorà where I've had the pleasure to meet these american friends.

“Gli studi sono quasi tutti composti in forma di piccole canzoni e ognuno all'interno nasconde un piccolo tema o significato: "Marjkione" ad esempio trae spunto da ritmi popolari macedoni e per il n. 13 Marcuws ho utilizzato le prime misure della colonna sonora del film Filumena Marturano (quello con la Loren e Mastroianni)”.
