Double Guitar è un’antologia che comprende 22 duetti chitarristici inediti – ideati da compositori dei nostri giorni e dedicati in modo particolare a giovani musicisti.  

I brani sono ordinati secondo un criterio di progressiva difficoltà all’interno di ogni autore (tranne che per le cinque miniature di Marco Simoni in rispetto alla forma della Piccola suite obliqua) e si rivolgono tanto al principiante nello studio dello strumento quanto a chi ha raggiunto una maggiore maturità tecnica e musicale.

L’appassionata cura che caratterizza questa raccolta nasce da un desiderio che mi ha sempre animato nel campo della didattica: la ricerca continua di nuovi testi musicali che siano non solo belli, ma anche suggestivi e coinvolgenti, in modo tale da favorire il più possibile un incontro vivo tra i giovani musicisti ed il pubblico. 

Per questo motivo il materiale è caratterizzato da notevole varietà, sia per quanto riguarda le scelte stilistiche dei compositori che per le direzioni eterogenee dei linguaggi utilizzati nei brani. 

Attraverso le musiche presenti in questa antologia gli studenti di chitarra avranno la possibilità di scoprire il valore del fare musica insieme,  sviluppare una buona capacità di ascoltarsi vicendevolmente e potranno confrontarsi con il mondo della composizione contemporanea: cosa quest’ultima per nulla scontata, soprattutto per destinatari che come ascoltatori “consumano” continuamente musica dei nostri giorni – anche se non di ambito colto – ma che spesso nella prassi strumentale rimangono estranei ad essa.

Un’ultima menzione non può che essere riservata agli autori di questi brani, che ringrazio di cuore per aver espresso qui – attraverso le loro creazioni – una geniale professionalità unita ad una grande passione educativa: Roberto Di Marino, Marco Reghezza, Marco Simoni, Alessandro Spazzoli, Roberto Tagliamacco e Andrea Vezzoli.

Double Guitar is an anthology including 22 unpublished guitar duets, devised by composers of today and especially dedicated to young musicians.

The pieces are sorted according to a criterion of progressive difficulty within each composer (except for the five miniatures by Marco Simoni as in the form of the Piccola suite obliqua) and they are intended as much for the beginner in the study of the instrument as for anyone who has reached a higher technical and musical level.

The loving care given to this collection stems from a desire that has always spurred me on in the field of teaching, which is a continuous quest for new pieces of music that are not only beautiful, but also evocative and enthralling so as to encourage as much as possible a lively encounter between the young musicians and the audience.

For this reason, there is a remarkable variety in the material, both as regards the stylistic choices of the composers and the mixture of the musical language ​​used in the pieces.

Through the music in this anthology, guitar students will be able to discover the value of making music together, to develop the skill of listening to each other and to challenge the world of contemporary composition. The latter is by no means easy to do especially for those on the receiving end who, as listeners, continuously “consume” the music of our day, even if not in the field of culture but who often in instrumental practice remain alien to it.

One last mention can only be reserved for the composers of these pieces, whom I thank heartily for having shown here, through their creations, exceptional professionalism together with great educational passion: Roberto Di Marino, Marco Reghezza, Marco Simoni, Alessandro Spazzoli, Roberto Tagliamacco and Andrea Vezzoli.
